Tanzania Portland Cement conducts training for blocks production

07 September 2015

Tanzania Portland Cement Company Ltd (TPCC) has embarked on conducting training for over 1,000 block makers across the Lake Zone to help them produce blocks complying with local standard.

Simon Delens, TPCC director, said the seminars will enable block makers to make quality products to meet the rising demand in the country’s construction sector.

He added that Twiga Cement will continue to offer related training for block makers through the country as part of its efforts to increase awareness of safety and quality.
He says the construction sector in Tanzania is booming, demanding knowledge to be shared among different players in the industry.

TPCC application engineer, Emmanuel Owoya, said many of the blocks manufactured do not meet quality standards but that these programmes will improve matters.

The Tanzania Portland Cement Commercial (TPCC) has been the major cement producer in Tanzania with a manufacturing capacity of about 2 million tons annually.
