The Africa expansion drive of Nigeria’s Dangote Cement is paying off with the announcement that its $150-million Cameroon plant would commence production in August.
Company management explained that the 1.5-million tons/annum plant was almost ready and would commence initial production at 1 million tons/annum before being increased to maximum capacity.
General Manager, Abdulahi Baba said the cement plant would revolutionalise the cement industry in Cameroon and help stimulate the Eastern African economy as Dangote Cement would be producing its quality 42.5 grade cement at a very competitive price.
He stated that the company would be bringing in clinker and that production would be environmentally friendly, with dust emissions lower than the international standard.
Engr. Baba said Cameroonians were eager to see Dangote Cement commence operations because of the success of the company in other countries.
