ABCECG embarks on skills development training for Ghanaian contractors

The Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG) has embarked on a nationwide skills development training for contractors.

The project is expected to train about 1,300 construction workers such as headmen, foremen, office clerks, plumbers, steel benders, masons and carpenters. The training, which is based on occupational health and safety skills, human management skills and knowledge on best practices among others, kicked off on May 5 and will continue until July 11, 2014.

ABCECG’s president, Martins Kwesi Nnuro, disclosed that the purpose of the training is to transform the construction industry in order to enable contractors to work more effectively and efficiently. He noted that the Ghanaian construction industry has the potential to contribute immensely to the economic growth of the country and needs the attention of the government and private sector.
