03 February 2015

Giam Swiegers joined Aurecon as Global CEO on Monday, 2 February 2015.

“It’s very exciting. The engineering and professional services markets are experiencing unprecedented change and offer enormous opportunities for a company like Aurecon, which is leading in technology-driven innovation and tailoring its services to meet client needs through the infrastructure lifecycle,” says Swiegers.

Swiegers began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa. After working for Deloitte in the USA, he was MD of Deloitte’s Tshwane office. He joins Aurecon from 12 highly successful years as CEO of Deloitte Australia, where Deloitte won the Accounting Firm of the Year and Audit Firm of the Year 2013-2014 Awards, with judges highlighting Deloitte’s innovation and agility.

With 7 500 staff across Australia New Zealand, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Aurecon provides engineering, management and specialist technical services for public and private sector clients globally. The result of a three-way merger in 2009 between Australian engineering company Connell Wagner and South African companies Africon and Ninham Shand, the company delivers services across the infrastructure lifecycle in 12 industries.
