Angola to replace defaulting contractors

02 December 2014

Angola is set to replace all contractors who have failed to meet the deadline over various projects in the Country.

Through the Ministry of Construction, the operation will continue in the coming months and replace all stuck projects to other competent contractors.

According to the Construction minister Waldemar Pires Alexandre, the government had set various deadlines and all companies agreed for the delivery of the works they perform.

Speaking during the close of the Second Consultative Council of the Ministry of Construction held in the village of Catete (Icolo and Bengo), Waldemar added that they will be taking actions and terminating the contracts from the contractors.

“We are engaged in replacement of these contractors by other guarantees that give us greater capacity and development of the work,” he said.

He indicated that a “problem” and irregularities in the technical and administration had been identified, sparking restructuring of agreements – which was now an ongoing process.
