Ashaka Cement board reshuffles, resignations

Ashaka Cement Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange that seven directors had resigned from the Board of the company with effect from 10 March 2015.

The board however said it had appointed Mallam Suleiman Yahyah, as the Board Chairman with effect from 12 March 2015, and Anders Kristiansson;

Edith Onwuchekwa and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Non-Executive Directors of the Company with effect from 12 March 2015.

Kristiansson, a Swedish citizen, moved to Nigeria in 2008 and was appointed to the Board of Lafarge Africa Plc on 27 October 2014.

Edith Onwuchekwa is currently Country General Counsel/Head, Public Affairs of Lafarge Africa Plc. She joined Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc in April 2005.

She is a graduate of Law 1997 (LLB) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999 (BL), and is currently an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of UK, 2009.

Mallam Rabi’u Abdullahi Umar joined Lafarge Nigeria as the Energy and Power Director in June 2014.

He is an graduate of Accounting from Bayero University Kano, the General Management Program from Harvard Business School and a Certified ISO9001:2008 Lead Auditor.
