In an effort to go green, global logistics solutions provider Barloworld recently launched a high-performance 300 kW photovoltaic solar rooftop solution at its Barloworld Equipment premises in Isando, Gauteng. This is expected to reduce Barloworld’s impact on the environment and improve the group’s efficiency and consumption patterns.
The installation will produce 47,237 kWh of renewable power a month, providing an estimated R793 590 saving on the company’s energy bill yearly. It will also reduce carbon emissions by 594 t/y. “You want your business to be relevant to society, you want it to address societal needs but, more importantly your business must make a concerted effort to preserve our natural resources for future generations to enjoy,” said Barloworld sustainability group executive Chris Whitaker.
