German chemical group BASF has opened a new production plant for concrete admixtures in Lagos, Nigeria.
This is BASF’s first production plant in western Africa. The new facility produces tailor-made products to meet the demand for construction chemicals in the region.
BASF West Africa construction chemicals country manager Nair Narayanan said: “We aim to fulfil the many needs and requirements of the industry in Nigeria, and then to expand the business to export to neighbouring west African countries such as Ghana, Liberia, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, and the Ivory Coast.
BASF, under its master builders solutions portfolio, produces standard and custom-made performance concrete additives and admixtures.
BASF Europe East, CIS, Middle East and Africa senior vice-president Laurent Tainturier said “Growth in emerging markets is an integral component of BASF’s ‘We create chemistry’ strategy.
“We are now able to rapidly supply our customers with admixtures for all cement and aggregate types.”
For more than 20 years, BASF has been selling construction chemicals in the western African market. In Africa, the company has its production sites in Westonaria, South Africa; Algiers, Algeria; Sadat City, Egypt; Casablanca, Morocco; and Nairobi, Kenya.
