Botswana brewery receives flooring solution

16 November 2015

Corrosion protection, epoxy flooring and waterproofing company Verni Speciality Construction Products has provided a brewery in Botswana with a heavy-duty flooring system to assist in maintaining hygenic conditions.

The Supaflor PU HD 6 mm polyurethane screed supplied to the brewery is a heavy-duty monolithic flooring system that is quick and easy to install, notes Verni product sales manager Peter Breiting.

Print Send to Friend 1 0 Further to the installation, a coved skirting was formed using Supaflor PU W coving mortar, which was also used to protect all the drains and sumps. “The brewery was [undertaking] a large expansion to its bottling line and needed a flooring product that would provide a non-slip surface [and meet] its health and safety requirements,” says Breiting.

He notes that Verni’s polyurethane screed proved suitable as it could also form coved skirtings around all plinths and walls to ensure that they met the required standards for high-risk areas. “Preparation is key to the application of any hygienic flooring system.

Without proper preparation, the primers cannot bond to the substrate properly and that leads to delamination,” explains Breiting. He adds that, even though there were strict timelines involved in the project, no corners were cut to speed up the process.

Instead, Verni’s teams worked harder and longer to ensure that they were on schedule. “The [company’s] hard work, expertise and excellent Supaflor products have been such a success that Verni continues to do work for the brewery,” he adds.
