Durban  Anchoring itself as the country’s leading supplier of quality face bricks in an ever-expanding market, Corobrik walked away with the top Large Manufacturing prize at the annual KZN Top Business Awards 2017, announced at a gala dinner held at the Wavehouse at Gateway on 3 August, 2017.

“Corobrik really appreciates this award and we are pleased that we have been able to offer long-standing contribution to KwaZulu-Natal,” said Corobrik managing director, Dirk Meyer. “Corobrik has been operating for 115 years, and we have exciting plans to grow the business even more.  We look forward to continuing to serve the province for many more years.”

“This is the eleventh year the awards have been held to pay tribute to business contributing to KwaZulu-Natal’s economy.  In previous years Corobrik have participated and won the mining category, however in 2017 we successfully competed under the Large Manufacturing sector as we believe the company is manufacturing focused rather than mining focused.”

Criteria for the competition outlined that the winning organisation or individual in each category display success in their relationship with the economic, environmental and social spheres in KwaZulu-Natal. Factors such as brand and reputation, stakeholder relations and goodwill, environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and quality of governance were all considered.

Assessment to achieve the winner in each category is comprehensive with companies supplying details across all categories which allows the judges to make an informed decision.

The KZN Top Business, together with Standard Bank and eLan Property, compiled an impressive awards’ ceremony which has become a highlight on the annual KwaZulu-Natal business calendar. This year was the eleventh edition of the awards which serve to celebrate the successful organisations which operate within the province.

The Large Manufacturing award was one of 16 categories celebrated at the ceremony. The categories included:  agriculture, mining, large manufacturing, medium manufacturing, resources, construction, trade, transport, business services, social and community, services, tourism, municipal, government, partnership, KZN top brand and KZN leader

The winners in each category were awarded a certificate and trophy, as well as recognition among industry peers for excellence in business practices that promote economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal. Organisations, such as Corobrik, showcase the province’s competitive edge and investment potential for both local and international markets.
