Basking in the euphoria of the successful inauguration of his plants in Cameroon and Senegal recently, President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has disclosed that the Dangote Cement annual production across Africa now stood in the region of 30 million metric tons.
Speaking at the Kaduna International Trade Fair was the Group’s Executive Director, Engineer Mansur Ahmad, who said the Group’s cement production has since surpassed Nigeria’s average total consumption of around 20million metric tons, even as he said that Nigeria under-consumes cement compared to other African, Asian and European countries.
He said the company has commenced production in African countries which include Senegal, Cameroon and South Africa, adding that by the time it completes its projects in eleven other African countries, the conglomerate’s total production would have surpassed 50 mmt.
He said Dangote Cement in Nigeria controls about 65% market share; and about 30% of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
He said investment in other African countries is strategic and was aimed at supporting governments across the continent by creating thousands of jobs.
