24 November 2016

Work is to commence in full as the Dangote Group and the Federal Government signed a landmark contract document, yesterday, in Abuja.

The long-awaited contract was for the construction of a 42.5-km Obajana-Kabba Road in Kogi State.

The Honorary Adviser to the President of the Dangote Group (Executive Director), Engr. Joseph Makoju, who signed on behalf of the Dangote Group, said the signing of the road project was a milestone in the history of Nigeria.

The rigid pavement would be built by the AG Dangote construction company.

The project would cost the Dangote Group N11.5 billion but the job was awarded to the group at a tax concession basis at N5.2 billion.

The difference of N6.2bn was deemed as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Dangote Group.

The MD of AG Dangote, Ashif Juma, said the contract duration was 24 months but the Dangote Group hoped to complete it in 16 months.

As part of its CSR, the Dangote Group had commissioned the 26-km Itori-Ibese concrete road in June this year.
