Doka buys Dutch materials specialist

17 October 2016

Doka has acquired Dutch materials technology specialist BAS, with whom it had already developed a sensor for measuring concrete strength in real-time. The two companies had a long-standing partnership and will now seek to expand the development of construction products and solutions to optimise construction methods.

One of the recent developments to have emerged from the two organisations is Concremote, a remote sensor system that measures the strength of concrete in real-time.

Doka Group’s chairman Jürgen Obiegli says, “having worked successfully with BAS over the past few years, this acquisition is the next logical step given our mutual objective to innovate in the field of construction. One of this year’s highlights at Bauma was Concremote, which is now being widely used on projects around the world.”

Venlo-based BAS focuses on making construction materials more sustainable. Materials are analysed in the company’s laboratory to understand how they can be improved or supported while also providing further information on the life cycle of the buildings they are applied to.

BAS has a full-time staff of 40 people.
