Entries now open for the PPC Riebeeck Bergmarathon 2014

09 May 2014

The picturesque backdrop of the Riebeeck Valley in the Western Cape will once again host the PPC Cement Riebeeck Bergmarathon taking place on 26 July this year. The race has something for everyone from serious athletes to families looking for an active day out.

The popular race has become an important event on the athletics calendar. 2014 being the 29th year the event is taking place. It attracts local as well as international athletes and is a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier. We invite keen athletes to participate in the 42.2km marathon and walkers and runners to enter the 21.1km half-marathon. For the beginners there is a 10km run and a leisurely 5km fun run / walk for families. Even if you’re not a running enthusiast, this is a great opportunity to leave the busy and noisy city-life behind and enjoy a weekend away in the tranquil surroundings.

The event is endorsed by Championship and was recognised by the Boland Athletics for being the best organised event.

“PPC encourages a healthy lifestyle which includes healthy eating and regular exercise. We are also committed to involvement in the communities in which we operate. Our partnership with the Riebeeck Bergmarathon is testimony to both. Although this is a serious marathon, it is also one in which families can spend quality time together outdoors,” said Bernard Venter, General Manager at PPC Riebeek.
