Dangote Cement, a newly built cement plant in Ethiopia, owned by the Dangote Group, is to commence production next month, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

Dangote Cement, located in the Oromia Regional State, about 85 kilometres west of Addis Ababa, will help the nation to accommodate increasing demand for cement as result of extensive infrastructure development.

The plant built with USD 400 million has an annual production capacity of 2.3 million tons, making it the biggest plant in East Africa.

Ethiopia’s current cement demand is estimated to be 7 to 8 million tons per year, although production stands at 5.4 million tons.
