Africa is growing daily and the budgeoning middle class continues to drive demand for sustainable social infrastructure. Overall, we see the opportunities surpassing the challenges facing the continent.
The top five ongoing construction projects are:
1) West African rail network to connect Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo.
2) The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam under construction at the Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia, on the Blue Nile River, which is located about 40 km east of Sudan.
3) The Mombasa-Kigali Railway Project is set for completion in March 2018.The project is estimated to cost US$1.35 Billion and will cover a distance of 2940 kilometers upon completion.
4) Kenya’s Konza Techno City being built over 5,000 acres, 64km south of Nairobi is a BPO project that is part of the Kenya Vision 2030 development program.
5) The Ethiopia-to-Djibouti Rail Link is ongoing and is expected to cost $2 billion and cover 756 Km. The Chinese Export & Import Bank (EXIM) provided an Aus$ 2.3 billion loan for the project.
