Ghana, Ciments de l’Afrique to build $82.4m cement factory

Ghana is set to partner with Ciments de l’Afrique (CIMAF Ghana Ltd) to build a £60 million ($82.4 million), one million tonne per annum capacity cement manufacturing plant in Tema Metropolitan Area, a letter of intent between the two institutions has stated.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Mawuena Trebarh, representing the Minister of Trade, Haruna Iddrisu and Saad Sefrioui, General Director of Ciments de l’Afrique (CIMAF GHANA LIMITED).

CIMAF is required to consider local content when sourcing for materials and abide by the country’s environmental rules and regulations.

In turn, the Ghanian government is required to acquire 10 hectares of land as well as handle the administrative processes involved in the lease of a limestone quarry necessary for the cement factory operations.
