Gold Reef City revamp nears completion

11 September 2015

Tsogo Sun’s refurbishment and expansion of Gold Reef City Casino is nearing completion. This sizeable investment in the property is in line with Tsogo Sun’s corporate strategy to invest in and expand its operations in South Africa.

Explains Tsogo Sun CEO, Marcel von Aulock, “We have a vested interest in all our properties and we need to ensure that they stay relevant, fresh, and competitive in the leisure market. Added to this, our selection of offerings at our properties are vitally important components in the way we ensure great experiences for all our guests.”

Gold Reef City is one of three of Tsogo Sun’s entertainment precincts in Gauteng and it features a strong historical aspect with its underground mine, mining village, and the renowned Apartheid Museum.

Improvements include rejuvenation of the casino, new restaurants, a bowling alley, a fast-food court and a Tsogo Sun movie franchise. Movies@Gold Reef City features a six-cinema complex that is themed as a Victorian train station with six theatres, and a total of 1 048 seats.

Von Aulock states that Tsogo Sun will continue to reinvent itself, ensuring that the group is focused on finding new opportunities to create great experiences for guests at all its properties.

Tsogo Sun’s portfolio includes over 90 hotels and 14 casino and entertainment destinations throughout South Africa, Africa, the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi.
