The importance in improving the energy efficiency of our public health facilities is ever growing, especially in the light of the recent recurrent problems of load-shedding.
The Going Green in Health Facilities Conferences 2013 and 2014 initiated a successful chain of positive discussions around South African energy efficient & environmentally friendly healthcare facilities.
This year, the conference will take place on the 16-17 September 2015 and will see a special appearance of the Singapore Health Ministry to advise us on their projects approaches to reduce energy problems in their public health facilities.
Additionally, the most energy efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly public health facilities will be given awards in the following categories:
• Best designed Community Day Centre-CDC
• Best designed Community Health Centre-CHC
• Best designed Emergency Centre-EC
• Best designed Public Hospital
Delegates are advised to keep sending their nominated public health facilities. The nominations are open from 25th January 2015 – 30th April 2015.
So far the following facilities have been nominated:
• Khayelitsha Hospital
• Mitchells Plain Hospital
• Heideveld Emergency Centre
