Moved by the poor state of a portion of Lagos – Abeokuta expressway, the multinational cement firm, Lafarge Africa Plc, a member of LafargeHolcim, has earmarked N200 million for reconstruction of part of the expressway.
Lafarge Africa yesterday said the reconstruction, which started two weeks ago, will cover three kilometres of the highway in front of Lafarge’s plants (WAPCO Operations) in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun state.
Ade Ojolowo, manager corporate communications, said: “This is an indication of the company’s commitment to safety of lives and property and in furtherance of its CSR efforts.
Ojolowo explained that the cement company is working in synergy with the Ogun State government in the reconstruction.
While giving the breakdown of the project, Ojolowo noted that the three-kilometre road repair work was expected to be completed within three months.
