Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange that with effect July 9, 2014, the company’s name was changed from Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc to Lafarge Africa Plc.
According to the Company, the change of name to Lafarge Africa Plc is consequent upon the company’s commitment to create a stronger growth platform which will accelerate the exploitation of growth opportunities and enhance value creation for all stakeholders.
However, the legal status, office address and contact details remains the same and all contracts remain unaltered in terms of the name of the contracting party, with corresponding obligations and rights being assumed under the new name. The Company’s share certificates also remain valid.
Lafarge Africa then reported on Friday its half-year profit to June rose 29% to 17.75 billion naira ($109.61 million), compared with 13.80 billion naira in the same period of last year.
Gross earnings rose to 55.35 billion naira, from 49.48 billion naira in the same period last year, the company said in a filing with the Nigerian Stock Exchange. ($1 = 161.8500 naira)
