Lafarge Tanzania on Wednesday launched a masonry cement called Tembo Fundi, giving builders a better choice for wall plastering, floor surfacing and tile laying.
Tembo Fundi is specially formulated to cater for masonry interior and exterior work, including strong bonding and smooth finishing qualities which produce superior results in brick and block-laying, tile-laying and floor-topping.
“Unlike general purpose cement that will take a mason quite some time to smooth, Tembo Fundi readily forms into a smooth surface giving a remarkable quality of finish,” Larfage Tanzania CEO, IIse Boshoff, said.
It also has a higher workability and a longer board life than traditional cement products. The Lafarge marketing and communications director, Allan Chonjo said the new product has a better water retention, is durable, has a higher crack resistance and larger area coverage for the mortar. He said currently, the market is not supplying any masonry cement forcing users to use general purpose cement for the masonry work application which is not economically viable and does not deliver the desired results.
