Lafarge to double cement production in Zambia

13 May 2014

Lafarge Cement Zambia Plc expects to double its cement production capacity in Zambia by 2017. Construction of the new production line is expected to start next year. Lafarge’s CEO, Emmanuel Rigaux said that the firm would be adding another production line to its Chilanga operation, doubling daily product output to around 5,000 tonnes.

The construction sector in Africa’s second largest copper producer is doing well and the firm is ready to continue tapping into that growth. Lafarge commands an 84% stake in the Zambian market and they are seeking to take advantage of the Zambian Government effort to develop power and transportation infrastructure through construction of roads, railways and power plants.
