21 June 2016

Construction of a major housing project in Ghana being undertaken by Construtora OAS Ghana Ltd is progressing well. The Saglemi Housing Project involves construction of 1,502 housing on 300 acres. The project is located at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.

President John Dramani Mahama referred to the housing project as important, being part of the many developments the government is currently undertaking to solve Ghana’s accommodation challenges. The housing project is currently under the execution of the Construtora OAS Ghana Ltd. According to the company’s chairman, Andrew Clocanas, the 1,502 housing units represent phase I of the project. He added that the project is expected to be expanded to up to 11,000 housing units in the Saglemi community.

Approximately, 80% of all the inputs and raw materials have been procured and fabricated in Ghana. This has created over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. The Saglemi Housing Project has been described as the most ambitious housing project in the West Africa region.
