Makerere University in Uganda which is among the oldest institutions of higher learning in the country has started constructing the proposed US$ 12.4m buildings which will help address the teaching space shortage at the university.
The project which is being undertaken by Excel Construction Limited executing the works and funded by African Development Bank (AfDB) is expected to be complete in the next 18 months.
The development will consist of two four-storey structures each having a 1,000-seat auditorium and an e-learning centre and they will be located next to the college of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) and another at the school of Social Sciences (CHUSS).
Makerere University is one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in Africa. It is a Collegiate University with 9 Constituent Colleges and 10 Constituent Colleges including the School of Law, all operating as semi-autonomous units of the University.
