Nearly 500 members of South Africa’s Nation Union of Mineworkers have gone on strike at building firm Group Five for higher wages and reduced hours.
More than 450 workers at a Group Five project in Durban went on strike on May 26 for a R10 000 bonus and a three-hour reduction in their working day on Saturdays.
The union said it also wanted representation by a full-time shop steward.
