Need for infrastructure development in emerging markets is ‘critical’

09 July 2014

The need for infrastructure development in emerging markets is critical. For South Africa, the emphasis on infrastructure development has been further highlighted by the recent signing of a proclamation by President Zuma this past week, bringing into operation the Infrastructure Development Act, 2014. The Act will come into operation with effect from 01 July 2014.

Supporting the need to debate and unlock the business opportunity within infrastructure development, the 3rd annual Infrastructure Africa Business Forum has become a prestigious and strategic event to attend; being recognised by its strategic government and corporate partners. Infrastructure Africa will take place on 21-22 July 2014 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The attendance of the Honourable Premier of Gauteng David Makhura and MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza will be highlights of the event. MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, MEC of the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GPDID), strategic partners to the event, will welcome local and continental delegates and officially open the event. Premier David Makhura will deliver the keynote address. Their presence is a clear sign of the importance of this event, the topics to be discussed and the need for solutions in order to tackle the current infrastructure challenges.
