Ohorongo Cement awards bursaries

21 January 2016

Through its Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust, Ohorongo Cement awarded study bursaries to two students in December 2015, enabling them to continue their education.

The decision to award bursaries is a first for Ohorongo, in collaboration with the Engineering Professions Association (EPA). The two collaborated extensively in order to find suitable candidates to be considered for the bursaries.

By the end of 2015, OOCT committed to fund bursaries of a fixed amount of N$25 000 each for 2016/17 for two electrical engineering students and signed an agreement with EPA to manage all administration of the two bursaries on behalf of OOCT.

“Education is of the utmost importance, as those currently studying, are the leaders of tomorrow,” said Hans-Wilhelm Schütte, MD of Ohorongo Cement.

The two students chosen to receive the bursaries are Saara Ipinge and Diana Nambahu, both second-year students at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. Outside of studying they will work at the Ohorongo Cement plant to gain practical knowledge within their fields of study.
