Ohorongo Cement donates cement to primary school

Ohorongo Cement has donated a further 36 t of cement for the completion of the Etunda Farm Primary School’s hostel, through its social investment arm, Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT).

The hostel and school will accommodate around 200 learners and is expected to open its doors to the children residing in the rural areas of the Otjozondjupa region in 2018.

Ohorongo Cement initially donated 34 t of cement to the Etunda Clinic, and this additional donation brings Ohorongo Cement’s contribution by towards the Etunda Farm Primary school and Clinic close N$800 000.

“The donation and the delivery of the cement are to honor our pledge made by our Managing Director, Mr Hans-Wilhelm Schütte, during the opening of the Etunda Clinic in May this year. We are aware of the huge infrastructure challenges that our education sector is facing. This donation is aimed at ensuring that the children in the rural areas of Otjozondjupa region are able to access education without limitation,” said Esther Mbathera the Public Relations and Corporate Communication Manager at Ohorongo Cement, who handed over the donation.

Founding President Dr Sam Nujoma received the cement and thanked Ohorongo Cement for honouring its pledge to the school saying, “I comment Ohorongo Cement for this gift to our children. We want the hostel and the school to start operating as soon as possible and this cement will help accelerate the construction process”.
