JSE-listed Raubex was set to upgrade 117 km of the Mpika-Nabwalya-Mfuwe road, in north-eastern Muchinga, in Zambia, after securing the ZK540-million (nearly R940-million) 30-month contract.
Mobilisation for the contract, which formed part of the Zambian Road Development Agency’s Zambia Link 8000 project, would kick off in July, Raubex CEO Rudolf Fourie said on Monday.
The Link Zambia 8000 project, launched in 2012, was a five-year, $5-billion to $6-billion initiative aimed at upgrading 8 000 km of road network, linking provinces nationwide.
The latest contract came a month after Raubex was awarded a ZK265-million (R460-million) contract to upgrade about 94 km of the Safwa to Chinsali road.
