Second cement plant opened in Chad

President of Chad, Idriss Déby, has officially opened the country’s second cement plant, according to local media reports.

The plant has been built by Moroccan-based CIMAF Group. It follows the construction of the Baoré cement plant in 2012 by Chinese investors.

The new plant is located in N’Djamene and has a production capacity of 0.5 million tpy of cement, with potential to expand up to 1 million t. It is expected to employ over 200 local workers. Its construction cost XOF23 billion (US$39.3 million).

Raw materials for the plant will be sourced from Mayo Kabbi in the south of Chad, said Anas Serfrioui, President and CEO of the CIMAF Group, which is a subsidiary of the Addoha Group
