Seifsa appoints first woman president, chairperson

13 October 2015

The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has, for the first time in its 72-year history, elected a woman as its president and chairperson of its board of directors.

Transman founder and CEO Angela Dick, who replaces Scaw Metals chairperson Ufikile Khumalo as chairperson of Seifsa, is also currently VP of the Confederation of Associations in the Private Employment Sector and a director of Business Unity South Africa.

“I am truly humbled that a giant such as Seifsa would consider and, ultimately, appoint me to this important position. It is a task that I accept and will embrace wholeheartedly,” she noted in a statement.

“The road ahead is certainly going to be a very challenging one, but the key is not to give up. We must work together with all the stakeholders within the sector to find solutions that will ensure growth and sustainability of the sector,” she commented.
