Shaping the future of cement and concrete in East and West Africa

04 June 2014

Hypenica, publishers of Concrete.TV and Concrete Trends will be hosting two high-level forums – Totally Concrete East Africa and Totally Concrete West Africa in Tanzania and Nigeria in September and October 2014.

Cement consumption has seen steady growth in both east and west Africa which has been underpinned by government infrastructure expenditure and private residential construction.

Production capacity in east Africa is forecasted to surge 89% to 17 million tonnes per annum over the next four years, as growth in the construction industry outpaces economic expansion in the region and in West Africa production of cement is expected surpass consumption by 2015

The Totally Concrete series of conferences will provide construction industry professionals active in the regions with up to date information on cross border infrastructure development and construction business opportunities.

“At the back of a highly successful pan-African event, we are excited to bring the regional editions of Totally Concrete to East and West Africa. The construction boom in east and west Africa has put cement production under the spotlight making this a very pivotal time for the cement and concrete industry” says Devi Paulsen, CEO of Hypenica.

The massive expansion seen in local cement production companies is a positive aspect for the African continent because the growth in volumes and expansion will increase job creation and job opportunities.

Totally Concrete West Africa takes place 15 – 17 September in Lagos, Nigeria and the East African edition takes place 28 – 30 October in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Visit www.totally-concrete.com for additional information.
