It will soon be easier for tourists to access breathtaking tourism sites in northern KwaZulu-Natal using air transport, thanks to a major facelift to Mkhuze Airport which will be announced by Economic Development, Tourism and Environmnental Affairs MEC Sihle Zikalala on Tuesday.
Commenting on the planned upgrade, Mr Zikalala remarked: “The Mkhuze Airport is strategically located in the prime tourism destination of the uMkhanyakude District which boasts the highest concentration of game reserves in the country.
The upgrade will see the airport improving accessibility to uMkhanyakude and the province at large while at the same time creating a strategically located airport for emergency medical, pilot training, firefighting training and anti-poaching exercises.”
