BIM enhances the construction industry in Africa

04 November 2015

The CAD Corporation recently held an Autodesk User Conference in Cape Town.  The CAD Corporation Cape Town invited both current and prospective Autodesk users to join in showcasing the latest in design concepts and technology.

Architectural, Engineering, Manufacturing and Process Engineering arenas was explored around the future of making things. Gary Mansfield, Technical Manager at CAD Corporation, presented on “what users need to take into consideration to account for adopting Building Information Modeling (BIM)”.  There was a key focus on what BIM entails and the process involved with implementing the software as a solution for the actual practice.

Mansfield mentions that one of the benefits of utilising Building Information Modeling” from an architectural point of view is that it enables you to use a 3D model to speed up the process of visualisation” and assisting the client to gain a perspective of what the final product could look like.

Another advantage of Building Information Modeling is the ability to share information such as the Bill of Quantities to clients at a much faster speed than traditional methodologies.
