Digital Construction Expo exposed

This year the digital construction community will come together for the second Digital Construction Expo (previously called the Construction IT Event) to meet hundreds of exhibitors from across the construction supply chain.

DCE 2017 is dedicated to promoting standards and technology in the built environment. As the only event to showcase digital construction in Africa, the growth of the sector on the continent, arguable led by Southern Africa, translates into considerable demand for this event. The Digital Construction Expo is once again co-located with the giant African Construction and Totally Concrete Expo (ACE/TCE) at Gallagher Estate, Midrand from 23 – 24 May 2017.

BIM Institute Director, Vaughan Harris explains how DCE 2017 is expanding with the growing demand for “smart” construction in South Africa. “The digital construction initiative is growing steadily in Southern Africa – in line with global standards – and we need to grow with it. ”Harris says both local and global companies are increasingly looking to help define “local BIM standards” and this is driving the industry towards innovation. This advancement brings with it an explosion in technology, from design to operation application.

“Our aim this year is to bring in many exciting new features and vendors – including free software workshops and expanding the ever popular ‘BIM Talks programme.’”

Free exhibition

We are proud to bring you drone Zone to this years event that will get visitors out of the office and introduce them to this exciting new techno-sport, which captures the imagination in a fun and interactive flying experience through the use of First Person View (FPV) simulators.

Unmanned UAV are becoming more and used within construction, oil & gas and the built environment Progress monitoring and structural inspections . The digital construction event aims to fuse the boundaries of UAV product applications with customer in the industry. We rely havily on the UAV specialists to help develop skills and grow with stakeholders whilst preserving the beauty of our environment.
