Spec-con (Pty) Limited is a specialist concrete repair company, formed 20 years ago by a group of professionals working in the construction industry who identified the need for a committed specialist in the field of concrete condition assessments and structural rehabilitation. The founders of Spec-con, having worked in the industry in Northern Europe, were familiar with the specialized products and techniques required to assess and repair deteriorated or poorly constructed concrete structures.
Spec-con operates throughout the African continent and is actively involved in projects in Botswana, DRC, Mozambique and Namibia. With our head office in Midrand, Johannesburg, we also have two regional offices in Van der Bijl Park and Potchefstroom. The company has also recently opened a branch in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
What we do
Spec-con is a dedicated specialist offering condition assessments and structural investigations on key concrete structures. The results of these investigations assist our clients, their engineers and consultants, in making informed decisions regarding the health and projected lifespans of their assets, enabling them to weigh up the viability of repairing existing structures.
A typical survey establishes the cause and severity of the deterioration by encompassing detailed visual inspections backed up by the use of both non-destructive and destructive techniques. This is done through the use of ultra sound, GPR and infra-red technologies as well as by traditional methods such as the extraction of core samples to be analyzed and tested in a laboratory.
Apart from our diagnostic survey division, Spec-con offers full turnkey solutions based on the outcome of the condition assessments. This includes the drawing up of remedial strategies, budgets and project management. As well as offering a full range of structural concrete repairs, we also do precision grouting, crack injection, water proofing, anti-carbonation coatings, gunite and shotcreting work, core drilling and carbon fibre strengthening.
