The Concrete Initiative – Solutions for Europe’s future

03 February 2015

As part of the February Cement Producers feature on Concrete.TV – we reached out to the European Cement Association to find out their role in the industry and how African associations could learn from them, particularly with regards to collaboration.

Koen Coppenholle, CEO, says: “Cembureau is the European Trade Association for the cement industry. The members are national associations, mostly over the European member states, so EU states apart from Cyprus, Malta and Slovakia. It also has three non-European members which are Turkey, Switzerland and Norway.

The role of the association is to represent the industry before the European institutions but also governments, and at the same time to analyse and study issues that are of relevance to the whole cement industry to share forces and resources to make sure the right messages are conveyed to policy-makers and for the benefit of the whole industry.”
